To many people’s dismay, The Urantia Book says very little about these things.  But what does it say?

The first thing that should be explained is that once life is established on a world like ours the beings that helped establish that life (the life carriers) retire from the scene and have a ‘hands off’ policy.  “A purposeful plan was functioning throughout all of these seemingly strange evolutions of living things, but we are not allowed arbitrarily to interfere with the development of the life patterns after they have once been set in operation.”

It’s like the underlying theme in the Star Trek series.  Remember the ‘Prime Directive’?  You may go to a world but you are not allowed to interfere with their natural evolution.  That is the way the universe actually operates.  It’s no big surprise that Gene Rodenberry, the writer of the Star Trek series, was a Urantia Book reader.

Understanding the prime directive allows us to conjecture that if some alien craft were getting through it would be because they have broken that directive.  There are many who are convinced that we have been visited by beings that we would consider alien.  That is not the purpose of this article to determine the validity of any of those claims but to simply explain what The Urantia Book actually says.

The Urantia Book says that the primary mode of transportation from one world to another is by the use of angelic transport.  Yes, we are actually transported by an angel, however “The angels cannot transport combustion bodies—flesh and blood—such as you now have, but they can transport all others, from the lowest morontia to the higher spirit forms. They do not function in the event of natural death. When you finish your earthly career, your body remains on this planet.”

The angels can transport our soul (our surviving self) after death and they do this for us in a manner that is clearly delineated in The Urantia Book in paper 39, section 5.

They also say there are many visitors here from other worlds who are observing our planet.  They are also being carried here using these seraphic transports.  “5. The Transporters. The planetary transporters serve the individual worlds. The majority of enseraphimed beings brought to this planet are in transit; they merely stop over; they are in custody of their own special seraphic transporters; but there are a large number of such seraphim stationed on Urantia.  These are the transport personalities operating from the local planets, as from Urantia to Jerusem.”  39:5.10

We are told about another world in the paper “Government on a Neighboring Planet”, explaining, “this (other) planet has experienced a history most like that of Urantia. The similarity of the two spheres undoubtedly explains why permission to make this extraordinary presentation was granted, for it is most unusual for the system rulers to consent to the narration on one planet of the affairs of another.”  So, if they can’t even narrate the affairs of one world to another, what is the chance of them allowing a whole group of aliens to come to a world like ours to disturb our evolution?

Regarding alien abductions and other phenomenon that would compromise free will The Urantia Book says this “No being, in the exercise of his supposed personal liberty, has a right to deprive any other being of those privileges of existence conferred by the Creators and duly respected by all their loyal associates, subordinates, and subjects.”  54:1.9

It also says this; “No other being, force, creator, or agency in all the wide universe of universes can interfere to any degree with the absolute sovereignty of the mortal free will, as it operates within the realms of choice, regarding the eternal destiny of the personality of the choosing mortal.”  5:6.7  That’s pretty definitive.  So what’s the chance that they would allow alien abductions?  There are laws that govern this world enacted by beings with compassion and vision.  Beings that we can hardly imagine or conceive of that protect the sanctity of our slow, evolutionary, and natural processes of progressing civilization.  Remember how the Bible puts it? “The Most Highs rule in the kingdoms of men.” Daniel 4:17

What about some type of ‘shadow government’?  Given the strict mandates discussed above, if they are here working as a shadow government, they are either rebels, blatantly acting in violation of universal law, or they are here with special permission on a particular mission. Perhaps it’s both.  Because there are so many anomalies on this world the Universe could make an exceptions for us, for a variety of reasons, but mostly because we have special needs. The Urantia Book really doesn’t indicate clearly one way or the other if this is in fact possible and it definitely doesn’t affirm that it’s actually happening.

What all of this knowledge does is give us faith that all is well. That “all things work together for good to those who love God,” and that our “planet is a member of an enormous cosmos; you belong to a well-nigh infinite family of worlds, but your sphere is just as precisely administered and just as lovingly fostered as if it were the only inhabited world in all existence.”  15:14.9  It has far more positive admonitions concerning our prospects for the future than can be enumerated here.

We watch and wait, with an open heart and a curious mind to see what will happen next.  If we hang on the words of the Master we ponder this. “Since your lives have been lived in the spirit and for the Father, nothing can be of serious concern to you. Kingdom builders, the accredited citizens of the heavenly worlds, are not to be disturbed by temporal upheavals or perturbed by terrestrial cataclysms. What does it matter to you who believe this gospel of the kingdom if nations overturn, the age ends, or all things visible crash, since you know that your life is the gift of the Son, and that it is eternally secure in the Father?”
